Open House for Crestwood Students

We had the wonderful opportunity to go out to Crestwood Middle School for the 3rd year in a row at thier annual Multicultural Festival.  It went quite well and with Master Wong’s experience and knowledge in the martial arts, all the students learned something new and a bit more about what it could do for them.  Due to the number of students interested in what we teach, everyone is eligible to come back to the academy for a free lesson.

Everyone understands martial arts can teach you some “cool moves” and how to fight, but the presentation really emphasized that regardless of which school or style someone chooses, respect is the first lesson that is learned.  Anyone can throw a punch or kick, but the true life skill learned from Tae Kwon Do is the self control and confidence to be able to walk away and to not lower your standards to the typical “bully”.

On May 7th at 7:00PM, we will have Open House Night at the Jefferson academy.  All the Crestwood kids and thier families are invited to see our academy and take a class.  This event is free for the public, so they can find out how our lessons and programs can really have a positive impact on their lives.  If you would like come, you can get direcitons and more information by calling 301-473-7792 or emailing Master Wong at jrijefferson@aol.com

Play Ball!

We had the wonderful opportunity to perform on Opening Day for the Myersville Junior Baseball League on Saturday.  We are often asked to perform Meeguk (English translation – America), which is our routine choreographed to the Star Spangled Banner.   Normally it is timed to a pre-recorded version, but the students got to perform to a live singer which is always exciting.

Meeguk was one of the forms created by Grand Master Jhoon Rhee to pay tribute to America and to express our patriotism.  Demonstrations like these and other performances are done by the academy FREE.  For more information contact Master Timothy Wong at jrijefferson@aol.com
